  1. My opinion...... Windows 10 is bullshit. I would advise you to think long and hard before getting win 10. Not only can't you disable updates, ( and believe me you can't. I have tried). It will just install them eventually with out you even knowing about it. You can only defer updates for up to 8 months, then they will just install anyway. The only other thing I could try is to run Linux as a firewall on a separate machine and see if I can stop the updates that way. Last update for win 10 screwed up my network connection. After some research I found out it is massive problem (Bug) in one of their updates. And if you want to uninstall the updates you can only uninstall the one ones it allows you too. And that's not to mention everything you do, everywhere you go, every keystroke is information sent directly back to Microsoft. Even info on your web-cam gets sent to them. By default when installing win 10 ALL privacy setting are set to ON or SEND back to Microsoft. You have to manually turn all this off when installing, or even after installing. (If you don't want your privacy violated). But even then, when win 10 updates it has been known to switch these privacy settings to default again, which is on. I use a program called "SpyBot Anti-Beacon" at the moment to ensure that these settings aren't changed by win 10 (which win 10 has been known to do through an update). Here is a must watch VIDEO on things you may not of known about win 10. (This guy apparently worked for Microsoft). No wonder they were giving it away. They couldn't sell it. I will be most likely going back to win 7. I am Not going to be forced into updating windows 10 when I don't wish too, or even need too. I'm not saying it's a conspiracy or that I'm even having a b%#!ch, well, maybe having a little b%#!ch but I think with just cause. Up to you to decide weather it's worth upgrading to win 10 for free and trading off your privacy for bully tactics from Microsoft.

Ninite.com - My Recommendation When Rebuilding

Hi all, My Recommendations when rebuilding. Your Friendly Tech LtAlucard1387 here. A long time ago i was show a magic little site called Ninite. IT is a site where you can get things like Firefox, chrome, 7-zip, avast, AVG (grrr - please die), and a whole lot of other things. Unlike CNET and Softonic, where you have some stupid installer that asks a thousand questions and installs a whole bunch of useless and annoying crap on your PC, it simply installs what you ask for, skips the tools bars and homepage changes, and simply installs. Better yet, the small file you receive will also update the programs later down the track, I have introduced a couple of our members to Ninite, and so far i have had good feedback. to use Ninite, you simple follow a simple set of steps: 1. go to http://www.ninite.com 2. select the programs you want. 3, at the bottom of the page, click the green, "get installer button" 4. in IE, click the next green button, for everything else, it should auto download. 5. run the file. The Ninite installer will then download and install all the selected programs and if you already have them, it will update them Simple. As a general rule, When rebuilding an operating system, this saves more than a hour of stuffing around to install your browsers etc, and avoids all the advertising bollox that you normally get with it. For all you Mac users, sorry, Mac OS and its developers are stingy and will not release the installer coding to the Ninite team, so you miss out, However, the few Linux users out there, Rejoice, you are covered here too. I hope that someone will find this site as useful as i have over the years Enjoy LtAlucard1387

    Enabling file extensions.

Ever looked for a specific file and couldn't find it? here is a quick setting to enable your file extensions in windows. 1.) go to your control panel, If you have win7 on the right top activate ""view small Icons"" If you use Vista on the right select ""Classic View"" Now you'll see a different looking control panel that has all of the features available. 2.) Locate the icon that says ""Folder Options"" and dubbl click on it. Now a small pop up window will appear, in that window select ""View"" Now in the window that says ""Advanced settings"" scroll down a bit and Locate "" Hide extensions for known file types"" and uncheck it. Click Apply, and you're done.
