When I first became aware of social networking, texting, etc. I was befuddled. (I was in another dimension for years, I'm trying to catch up). As a 42 year old man (yuck) I recall the days of no cell phones, no internet, and no Facebook/MySpace. I told myself I would never be one to involve myself in social networking and I thought phone texting was foolish. Well...today I have a Facebook account and I'm always texting.
I enjoy using Facebook to communicate with my old high school friends, family, etc. I am disabled and often unable to leave my home, so FB and social networking in general (Twitter boggles my mind) are a part of my life. I'm not one to post something about my life or post something like "Okay, cleaned the house. Now I'm going to make a ham sandwich with mustard and lots of pickles. Then, I'm going to take a hot bath with lots of bubbles in." I mean REALLY? Do I need to know that? No. Being able to see pictures of your cousins vacation, your best friend's first baby, or the car your sister worked her bum off to be able to buy...those are things I enjoy about FB. Okay, and Farmville....yes, I know, you don't have to say it!

As for the rumors...I've no idea. I abhor commercial media media so I avoid it. I suppose it depends on your perspective. Is it a useful tool? Is it a global community? Is it a money making machine that controls my life? Our world is diverse. Naturally, FB is as well. Personally, I would not like to lose it or MySpace (which I used before FB) for that matter. I enjoy sharing music, pics, bits of knowledge, crazy picture posts (which I thought was just a fad, but now you still see them everywhere).
I don't see FB leaving, just a gut feeling. I understand we have a FB page. I will have to check that out. Okay all, i'm going to the bathroom, then I'm going to grab a cup of coffee and a smoke. I think I might get a haircut today, what do u guys think? Oh wait, wrong social networking venue....

Peace to all.
